Wimbledon Common Family Photographer

Wimbledon Common is one of my favourite locations for family photography in London. With its woodland paths, open grassland, sandy tracks and quiet little corners, it offers plenty of variety without feeling like you are in the middle of a busy city.

It is a wonderful place for families who want photographs that feel natural and relaxed. Rather than spending the session posing in one spot, we can walk, explore and play, allowing the photographs to unfold naturally along the way.

Family Photography on Wimbledon Common

I have photographed families, newborns, children, couples and dogs on Wimbledon Common, and every session has been different. Some families want lots of playful photographs of their children running and exploring, while others prefer a mixture of family portraits and quieter moments together.

I usually start by giving everyone a little time to settle into the session. Once the children are comfortable, we can explore some of the different areas of the Common and make the most of whatever the day gives us.

Why Wimbledon Common Works So Well for Family Photos

One of the things I love about Wimbledon Common is its variety. There are open spaces where children can run, woodland paths for walking and playing, and more sheltered areas where we can create intimate family portraits.

It also gives us plenty of opportunities to keep moving, which can be particularly helpful if you have young children who aren't keen on sitting still for photographs!

The aim isn't to make your children behave like models. Quite the opposite. I want them to be themselves, because those genuine expressions, funny little moments and interactions with you are often the photographs you will treasure most.

Wimbledon Common has something different to offer in every season. Spring brings fresh green leaves and blossom, summer is full of rich greenery, and autumn creates beautiful warm colours throughout the woodland.

Winter can be particularly lovely too. The Common is often quieter, and soft winter light can create beautiful, atmospheric family photographs.

Morning sessions can work especially well for younger children, when they are usually at their happiest and the Common tends to be quieter.
