Puppy Photoshoot in Wimbledon
I have been photographing dogs for a number of years but for some reason I never had a request to photograph a small puppy - until now!
This was my dream job! I could hardly contain my excitment when I first met Wendy. She was sweet and small and soft and so lovely! I probably spent as much time cuddling her as I did photographing her.
For this puppy photography session, I wanted to capture a bit of Wendy’s character and also the first days in her new home. This was a great challange for me photographically because we were contained to a small space - a room and a balcony, so it really pushed me to think creatively. After a few group shots with mum and dad, I let Wendy choose what she wanted to do and followed her around, making sure to capture moments of play, rest, intrigue and exloration. I set myself a challenge to include a few rainy shots as the weather was very autumnal on the day. I had an image in my mind of the dog looking through the window, rain droplets dripping down. I executed this shot by taking a photograph from inside the apartment looking out, and also from outside looking in. I love how moody and sentimental one of the images turned out.
I enjoyed photographing Wendy so much that I started a new photography project called Puppies. The project will exlore the life of puppies with their new families, and try to capture memories in those first few special weeks. Family Dogs
I love taking family photographs and I also love photographing dogs. That is why I recently started a personal project called Family Dogs, with an aim to document the relationship families have with their pet dogs. To kick start the series, I photographed a gorgeous cocker spaniel Lexi with her human family. We arranged our dog and family photo shoot near Leith Hill as the family lived close by and one of their favourite things to do in spare time was to go on long country walks.
Family portraits with pets
It was a warm summer day in late summer, with sunshine coming through the clouds but with rain looming in the distance. We started our walk at the bottom of the hill, walking up the gentle slopes, sun coming through the trees. This first part of the session provided some great opportunities for group shots, the colours of the dead leaves on the ground matching Lexi’s coat. It was lovely to work with the earhy colour palette. A part of the route up towards Leith Hill has some impressive tree roots which form an amazing pattern on the ground. I knew I wanted to include these in the photographs, so I positioned Lexi for a few dog portraits. I particurlarly like black and white versions of these photographs, the textures and patterns really come through. Once we were on top of the hill, I looked around for nice spots for some more family shots. The heather was in bloom and I wanted to include it in the photos. Often when photographing families with dogs, there is quite a bit of arranging going on. Either the dog doesn’t want to sit still, the kids want to run around or both things happen making it nearly impossible to take a group shot! On this occasion, by some miracle, the family set down and just as they did so (while also looking at the camera), Lexi came from behind and poked her head through a little hole in the middle. This is one of the rare unposed, unplanned photos which just happened and turned out amazing! It is one of my favouirtes from this family and pet photo session, probably because it was so spontaneous!
Dog Portraits
Finally, a dog photo session with an energetic dog like Lexi wouldn’t be complete without a few action shots. I got Lexi to run along the paths amongst the heather and she did so with such speed that my auto focus struggled to keep up. I love taking a variety of different shots which capture memories of our pets in different situations - while frantically running around, chasing a ball, playing with another dog or a family member, or having a quiet moment. Different moments take us back and awaken memories we thought we lost.

Family and Pet Photoshoot
I recently did a family and pet photoshoot with an eight month old baby and the most gorgeous chocolate lab Lola. Lola is the perfect family dog - calm, trustworthy, loving and so incredibly tolerant. She has become somewhat of a nanny to the family’s youngest addition, and it was lovely to follow the two of them around the house, photographing them playing, interacting and relaxing together. Lola’s expressions made me lough at times, there were definitely a few “Oh, no, not again!” looks.
Professional Family and Pet Photographer
I love photographing children, and I love photographing dogs. Often clients comment on what a combination that is! Although challenging and frustrating at times, I find that if I don’t try to control the situation but let the interaction happen spontaniously, photo opportunities present themselves organically and I just need to be there at the time to capture the magic unfolding. I love the little sequence of the baby and Lola interacting - it is the little looks, touches and smiles that melt my heart.

I have photographed dogs in Hampstead Heath, Richmond Park, Bushy Park, Marble Hill Park and beautiful Surrey Hills. The outdoor location provides the perfect setting for dogs to run, jump, splash in water, roll in mud and chill out in the sun. I can also take photos of your pet in your own home, relaxing in his favourite chair or exploring her favourite part of the garden.

British Shorthair Kitten Photoshoot / London Pet Photographer
I love my job! I was recently commissioned to take photographs of a silver tabby british shorthair kitten called Izzy. She was so delightful it was hard to focus on taking pictures! Sweet, cuddly, playful, cheeky - she had it all! I worked with Izzy's owner to create a set of playful shots and portraits in their own home which is where cats feel most comfortable. At times, it was a challenge containing Izzy's enthusiasm for chasing her toys but eventually it tired her out for a few relaxing portraits with her owner. Photographing pets is one of my passions, and I work across London and Surrey capturing candid moments of our furry friends. Meet Gordon. He is a staffie who was found abandoned and scared on the streets of London. After nobody came in to reclaim him from a council pound, he was taken in by the Mayhew Animal Home. The staff at the centre noticed that he didn't hear them entering his kennel in the morning and after a series of test it was determined that Gordon is completely deaf. Staffies struggle to find a home even if perfectly healthy so Gordon's deafness was another setback in the adoption process. However, the staff at the Mayhew were determined to give him a second chance and they started teaching him sign language, and urging him to use other senses to compensate for his lack of hearing, giving him new tools to communicate with people. He responded really well to training, and soon learned a few commands like sit, stand and stay, and started bonding more easily with people. After 9 months, the wait was finally over - a couple came in to see Gordon and they instantly fell in love with him! Gordon now lives with Josanne and Richard (and a rabbit called Munch), who continue to teach him sign language and train him at Rachel Worley's Reality dog training classes. I photographed Gordon just before New Year, after he won the first prize for best trick at Rachel's Christmas class (he barks when he sees an appropriate sign). It was the first time I ever encountered a deaf dog and I was touched by the special bond Gordon and his owners share. I was also amazed by how many different commands he knew, and how in tune he was with Josanna and Richard. Our photoshoot included a session at home to capture some cozy home moments, and a session outdoors where Gordon enjoyed running around and showcasing his many tricks. This is such a heart warming story, which I hope inspires others to follow Josanne and Richard's steps in adopting a needier dog.
