East London Dog Photographer | A Relaxed Couple & Dog Photo Session

Natural, heartfelt storytelling with London Dog Photographer Mina Milanovic

These photos make me smile every time I look at them. They were taken during a couple & dog photoshoot in East London, back in November, with the sweetest little dachshund who trotted through the session as if he’d been modelling his whole life. As a London Dog Photographer, I’m lucky to witness moments like these where love, connection and the quirks of a much-adored pup come together to create something genuinely special.

An Outdoor Autumn Pet Photography Session

Autumn in London has a magic that is impossible to describe without living it—the kind of magic that reveals itself slowly, like the warmth of a coat you’ve just pulled from the radiator. This day was no exception. The sky kept threatening rain, brooding and dramatic, but somehow we escaped every drop. Instead, the sun pushed through for small bursts of golden light that illuminated the park in rich amber tones.

The air had that crispness I secretly love. I might be a summer girl at heart, but autumn always wins me over with its warm colour palette, gentle textures and quiet atmosphere. Perfect conditions for natural dog photography, especially when a little dachshund is happily leading the way.

We met in a local East London park and set off for a loop around the paths. Moving together like this is my favourite way to photograph couples and their dogs. No stiff posing, no pressure—just a gentle walk, stopping whenever the scenery, the light or the pup’s antics gave us a moment worth capturing.
There were fallen leaves that crunched under tiny paws, tangled branches that framed the couple beautifully, and long grass that turned golden as the sun slipped through. The frames we made there feel warm and real, the kind of photographs that look like memories rather than staged portraits.

Indoors for Cosy Dog Photography

After we’d had our fill of the cold—or rather, after the dachshund announced it was time—we headed back to their home for the final part of the session. Indoor pet photography has a softness of its own, especially when the warmth of home wraps around everyone.

We captured snuggles on the sofa, the kind where a sleepy dog melts into their humans, the kind you wish you could bottle up forever. These quieter, slower frames often become favourites because they feel honest and familiar. They’re a little reminder of what everyday love really looks like.

This particular photo session was a birthday gift, which made it even more special. Photography has a way of becoming a keepsake that only grows in meaning over time, especially when a beloved pet is part of the family story.

Why Choose a Couple & Dog Photoshoot in London

London is full of hidden corners, atmospheric parks and cosy indoor spaces that lend themselves beautifully to storytelling pet photography. Whether we’re wandering through a leafy park in East London or capturing gentle moments at home, the aim is always the same: to create photographs that feel like you, your relationship and the bond you have with your dog.
Couple & Dog Photography in London is not about posing for the camera; it’s about documenting joy, connection and the small moments you don’t even realise you’ll want to remember.

About Me

I’m Mina, a London Dog Photographer specialising in natural, heartfelt couple and pet photography. My approach is relaxed and story-driven. I believe the best photos come from genuine connection—not forced smiles or rigid posing.

As someone who adores animals and has photographed dogs of every size and temperament, I understand the joy (and occasional chaos!) they bring. My sessions are planned with patience, humour and flexibility so your dog can simply be themselves. Whether we’re outdoors exploring or curled up at home, I’m there to document the story of your relationship in an honest and beautiful way.

How to Book Your Photography Session

Booking a session is simple.
Just reach out with your preferred season, location ideas or any thoughts you have about what you’d like captured. If you’re not sure yet, that’s absolutely fine—I’m always happy to help shape a session around what feels meaningful to you.

Once we find a date, I’ll guide you through the entire process, from planning locations to preparing for your dog’s comfort, all the way to choosing your final images and artwork. Sessions are available throughout London for outdoor, indoor or mixed-location shoots.

Dog Photo Session in Wandsworth

I so am behind with my blog posts! This one is from earlier in the summer which seems long long ago. The days are getting short and the evenings are drawing in, perfect time for sitting by the fire and reminiscing about summer photo sessions.

This couple and dog photo shoot took place in Wandsworth, South West London. The photoshoot was a Christmas gift and was meant to be a puppy photo session, but because of puppy health issues we had to postpone. By summer time, the bulldog puppy didn’t quite look like a puppy but it definitely had the puppy spirit about him.

We started the dog photo session in the communal gardens where I took a few action shots and portraits of the puppy alone. We then headed out by the river for a walk, which has some beautiful backdrops which I was keen to incorporate in the portraits of the couple together with their dog. I love including the landscape into the photograph, it gives a sense of a place and reminds the clients of the places they visited or where they lived.

Bulldogs are such expressive dogs and it is great fun and a pleasure to photograph them. Their grumpy face makes for a great pet portrait but they are also playful and cheeky, and some of my favourite photos from this pet photo shoot are the action shots.

Christmas is coming once again. If you need a Christmas gift idea, head over to my gift voucher page where you can find a selection of photography gift vouchers available to purchase. Photography gift vouchers are available for one year from the date of purchase and come with a complementary 8x6’’ print. Please contact me if you would like to add credit towards digital files or prints, or if you would like to have a chat about your photography gift idea.

Children and Pet Photography in Surrey

I have been photographing families and pets since 2013. I very much enjoy photographing both subject but most of the photoshoots were either dog photo sessions, focusing on the dog, or family sessions where the main focus is the family. I recently started a personal photography project called “Family Dogs” where I combine my passion for two. I am interested in capturing the relationship families have with their pet dogs and vice versa.

This photography session was for a family of three. A two year old girl, a seven year old rhodesian ridgeback/boxer cross and their lovely mum. We decided to meet at Blackheath Common near Guildford which was the perfect backdrop for outdoor family and pet photography. The two girls had sa very special bond especially when it came down to treat time! The dog loved performing tricks and showing off which commands it can do and was rewarded by the girl with some yummy treats.

Below is a selection of some of my favourite photos from the day - I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

If you would like to book your dog photography or family photography ssession, or if you would like to participate in my Family Dogs project, please get in touch!

Dog Photographer in Windsor Great Park

German Shepherd Photography

I’ve never photographed a german shepherd before so I was very excited about this dog photography session!

Outdoor Dog Photo Shoot

My client received a dog photography gift certificate from her brother and sister. After brief email correspondence, we agreed to meet in Windsor Great Park for an outdoor photoshoot. I photographed a couple and their two dogs at the same location a couple of months ago and really enjoyed the experice so I was eagar to go back.

Photographing Dogs and their Owners

Tui was a lovely gentle dog who was a bit shy and nervous of the camera at first. I gave him a bit of time to get used to me and once he started to relax I was able to photograph around him freely. The more I photograph dogs the more I want explore the relationship they have with their owners. I love taking a nice portrait of a dog or an exciting action shot, but for me it is really the connection dogs have with their owners that draws my attention and makes for an interesting and hopefully timeless photograph. So more and more in my dog photography I am trying to include the owners. My hope is that when they look back on the photos in the future, the image will provoke not only the memory of the dog, but also their relationship.

If you would like to find out about my dog photography sessions, please have a look on my website.

Family Dogs / Surrey Family and Pet Photographer

Family Dogs

I love taking family photographs and I also love photographing dogs. That is why I recently started a personal project called Family Dogs, with an aim to document the relationship families have with their pet dogs. To kick start the series, I photographed a gorgeous cocker spaniel Lexi with her human family. We arranged our dog and family photo shoot near Leith Hill as the family lived close by and one of their favourite things to do in spare time was to go on long country walks.

Family portraits with pets

It was a warm summer day in late summer, with sunshine coming through the clouds but with rain looming in the distance. We started our walk at the bottom of the hill, walking up the gentle slopes, sun coming through the trees. This first part of the session provided some great opportunities for group shots, the colours of the dead leaves on the ground matching Lexi’s coat. It was lovely to work with the earhy colour palette. A part of the route up towards Leith Hill has some impressive tree roots which form an amazing pattern on the ground. I knew I wanted to include these in the photographs, so I positioned Lexi for a few dog portraits. I particurlarly like black and white versions of these photographs, the textures and patterns really come through. Once we were on top of the hill, I looked around for nice spots for some more family shots. The heather was in bloom and I wanted to include it in the photos. Often when photographing families with dogs, there is quite a bit of arranging going on. Either the dog doesn’t want to sit still, the kids want to run around or both things happen making it nearly impossible to take a group shot! On this occasion, by some miracle, the family set down and just as they did so (while also looking at the camera), Lexi came from behind and poked her head through a little hole in the middle. This is one of the rare unposed, unplanned photos which just happened and turned out amazing! It is one of my favouirtes from this family and pet photo session, probably because it was so spontaneous!

Dog Portraits

Finally, a dog photo session with an energetic dog like Lexi wouldn’t be complete without a few action shots. I got Lexi to run along the paths amongst the heather and she did so with such speed that my auto focus struggled to keep up. I love taking a variety of different shots which capture memories of our pets in different situations - while frantically running around, chasing a ball, playing with another dog or a family member, or having a quiet moment. Different moments take us back and awaken memories we thought we lost.

Dog photographer in Surrey

My lovely neighbours wanted a few photos of their dogs Nelly and Annie, so a few weeks ago we went on a local Surrey walk to photograph the two ladies. I wanted to capture them enjoying their every day walk - running around the cricket pitch and walking through the tall grasses. These two ladies are elderly which I find can sometimes be a challenge during dog photo shoots in terms of producing a variety of images for my clients. However, these two were such stars - they were up for posing for portraits (individual and group!), they loved having a run around and interacted so eagerly with their owners. I really couldn’t have asked for more.
I love photographing dogs and their families, so if you are interested in having a dog photo session with me, please contact me to discuss your idea. Or perhaps you would like to surprise someone with a dog photoshoot experience? Gift certificates are a great way to treat your loved ones to an experience with their canine friend. If you would like to enquire about pet photography gift vouchers, please get in touch to discuss your requirements. You can also head over to my shop to purchase a 1h or 2h dog photography gift voucher,
